Welcome to the virtual home of freelance writer Charmian Christie.

Born and raised in Canada, educated in Australia and published internationally, I've a writing portfolio as diverse as my travels.

Former Outdoor Adventure Expert for Nomadik Outdoor Life Guide, I'm pleased to report my years spent backpacking finally paid off in the real world. When I'm not getting hopelessly lost in London or boxing with kangaroos Down Under, I'm tasting my way across North America.

A columnist for Cahoots, Canada's newest women's quarterly, my works appear in a variety of national magazines, including Edible Toronto, Canadian Gardening, Pilates Style, Spirituality & Health, Natural Solutions and Alternative Medicine. My personal essays have been broadcast on CBC Radio's First Person Singular and appear in a range of anthologies.

Jill of all trades, I'm a professional member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, the Playwrights Guild of Canada and Cuisine Canada. I also had a finger in the pot at NetWits, where I'd hoped to be the exception to their motto, "Together we'll accomplish even less."

I launched my first play at Theatre and Company's NewWorks Festival on June 19th, 2003, and am a member of the newly formed playwright's cooperative Pat The Dog. In my spare time, I'm involved in community theatre, where I take comfort knowing I'm not as crazy as the characters I portray.
