Welcome to the virtual home of freelance writer Charmian Christie.

Born and raised in Canada, educated in Australia and published internationally, I've a writing portfolio as diverse as my travels.

Former Outdoor Adventure Expert for Nomadik Outdoor Life Guide, I'm pleased to report my years spent backpacking finally paid off in the real world. When I'm not getting hopelessly lost in London or boxing with kangaroos Down Under, I'm tasting my way across North America. Closer to home, I recount my culinary triumphs -- and disasters -- on my blog Christie's Corner.

A columnist for Cahoots, my works appear in a variety of national magazines, including Edible Toronto, Canadian Gardening, Natural Health and Alternative Medicine. My personal essays have been broadcast on CBC Radio's First Person Singular, published in The Globe and Mail, and appear in a range of anthologies.

Like most cooks, I have my fingers in many pots. I'm a professional member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, the Playwrights Guild of Canada and Cuisine Canada. I launched my first play at Theatre and Company's NewWorks Festival and am an active member of Pat The Dog, a playwright development centre in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. In my spare time, I'm involved in community theatre, where I take comfort knowing I'm not as crazy as the characters I portray.
